Why:
![]()
Due to the size of our population, the
Borough of Pennsbury Village is not required to recycle by the
federal government. Responding to the many requests of our
residents, and recognizing our duty to help preserve our
resources, Borough Council has decided to implement a voluntary
recycling program. We have chosen to recycle by this
method due to high costs associated with municipal recycling
programs.
The Borough has installed the first Recycling Center as a test. We fully intend to promote it's voluntary use and will closely monitor the usage. If the usage indicates the need, we will be installing a second Recycling Center in another location within the Borough.
How:
![]()
Our recycling company has informed us of a
big change. They do not want the recycled items in
plastic bags! They want all items in the dumpster to be
loose. You can still bring items up to the dumpster in
bags, but we now must ask you to dump out the items into the
dumpster and then throw in the empty bag. This is an issue
with the way the automated sorting equipment works.
So....please break open the bag and dump the items into the
recycle center dumpster. Thank You!
There are some simple rules that we all must
follow. First, regular trash should never be placed into
the Recycling Center. Absolutely NO BUILDING MATERIALS
may be placed into ANY dumpster within Pennsbury Village!
No plastic bags with doggie waste. Absolutely no food
waste....all food containers, cans, and bottles must be rinsed
out and have their labels and caps removed before recycling. All
cardboard boxes must be flattened! No Styrofoam packing
material is permitted! The Borough will be charged extra fees if
non-recyclable items are placed into the Recycling Center
dumpster. As a result, to offset these costs, a fine will
be imposed on any resident who is observed breaking the rules. If this becomes a major problem, we will
terminate the recycling program. While we recognize the
need and the duty to recycle, we will not throw your tax dollars
away!

What:
What can I recycle? I'm glad you asked
because the list is long and there are some items that can not
be placed in the Recycling Center dumpster!
